A lot of the bulky waste we generate rarely has a second shelf life. How can we transform it into resources? Mémoires d’eau is an example of a rehabbed tourist site, as seen here of the Nantes-Brest canal, using parts and materials from old sailboats. As a result, boat sails become awnings, hulls add volume to canal lockhouses that second as visitor information areas, and a series of mini look-out points dot the landscape.
Mémoires d’eau is one of 15 projects on display at Design(s), l’expo 2012.
