Imperceptibles
Independent movie theaters are dark, uncomfortable and expensive. That’s what most 15-25 year-olds think. In this context, independent movie theater managers have a major challenge: to win back young people and quickly. Indeed, independent film distribution and screening guarantee a renewed diversity of the 7th art. The IMPERCEPTIBLES Festival, conceived by Robin, offers a new experience of independent cinema. The tone and values are deliberately offbeat, even irreverent. A sort of "private club", the festival cultivates a sense of mystery thanks to a range of digital tools. Secret locations, rare films and temporal challenges are all part of the experience.
This project was selected as part of Design L'Expo 2021 and was exhibited at La Cale 2 Créateurs from 4 December 2021 to 27 February 2022.

" Choosing a subject you’re passionate about for your end of studies project is a challenge. Indeed, the fact of being familiar with or mastering a particular universe sometimes prevents us from exercising our critical eye. It takes a lot of maturity and method to succeed. Thus, Robin managed to ask the right questions and overcome his preconceived ideas to finalize his film-related project.
First of all, he set up a network of specialists around his project and made his first observations. Industry requirements started to become clear. He was then able to position his project: how to accompany independent cinemas to attract new audiences? Is it possible to overcome the clichés associated with small venues and bring back young people?
The Imperceptible festival adopts the communication codes appreciated by the target audience and brings them to cinemas they would not otherwise have visited. A scavenger hunt, a secret adventure, a feeling of belonging to a group of insiders are the elements used by Robin. With a strong network of stakeholders, he has solicited funding for a first edition of the Imperceptible festival in 2022. Robin's final year project has now become a reality! Accompanied by the Futur@cinema challenge and supported by the Centre National du Cinéma et de l'image animée (CNC) and Europa Cinemas, the festival will take place from 1 to 11 June 2022 in Paris and Budapest. A sort of "closed club", it cultivates mystery thanks to a range of digital tools, a secret programme and a treasure hunt through the city. To take part in the festival's parties, users have to find hidden hideouts in the city using the application, which then opens an Augmented Reality game linked to the universe of the films and the parties. To test the Imperceptibles experience in real life, download the application!
