A creative, technological and cross-disciplinary battle involving students from Polytech Nantes, Audencia SciencesCom and 50 3rd year students from Scenography and Graphic Design BDes programs took place between 23 March and 6 April 2018.
In partnership with RFI Ouest Industries Créatives (a research/training/innovation program), a hundred or so student engineers (Polytech Nantes), designers (L’École de design) and communicators (Audencia-SciencesCom), demonstrated the potential of several technologies to represent, relate, explore or explain a set of documents provided by a company or a local authority, by creating a mediation device and an interactive installation. A hybrid project for an educational experience at the crossroads of IT, design and communication.
Each group of students was made up of engineers, designers and communicators and had 24 hours to work with the elements provided:
• A specific problem and a set of data provided by a company, a media or a local authority (statistics, archives, texts, sensor read-outs, catalogs, etc.)
• A piece of input technology enabling the user to manipulate the data (microphone, camera, gyroscope, accelerometer, leap motion, etc.)
• A piece of result technology to represent the results of these interactions (2D video, 3D video, surround sound, phone, tablet, etc.)
