Changing the life experience of diabetic patients
Diabetes, considered as a major problem throughout the world, is characterised by the fact that its treatment is difficult to manage, by a worrying increase in the number of patients and by the high cost of treatment.
Based on the observation and analysis of daily practices and habits for coping with the treatment, the concept promotes the independence of Type 1 diabetics while minimising treatment costs. Inhaled insulin and glucose monitoring via microwaves enable to completely eliminate the pain associated with diabetes treatment and minimise medical waste.
The integration of these two technologies into the customisable Naja bracelet changes people’s perceptions about diabetes: namely the painful aspect of the condition and its treatment. The glucose test results recorded by Naja are synchronised and analysed via a smartphone application, which sends advice and is able to provide advance warning of any potential episodes of hyperglycaemia or hypoglycaemia.
This project is exhibited at Hangar 32 at “Design l’Expo”, from 28th November 2014 to 25th January 2015.
