// Thibault Nicol

Demos is accessible without any age or gender requirements.

There is a strong demand of easy to set up sports.

The game is paired with an educational program.

Demos is a global program which can be taught at school or at the gym.

Can sport challenge gender discrimination in schools? To avoid this phenomenon developing, Thibaut Nicol identified baseball as the perfect sport as it is so inclusive. DEMOS offers sports equipment that is ergonomically suited to playing in a school environment, in clubs and for leisure. With a comprehensive educational program developed in partnership with sports education professionals, DEMOS is aimed at children both in and outside school. The children were actively involved in testing and optimizing the various steps of its creation. The project was presented to the Léo Lagrange du Grand Est association who were very enthusiastic and keen to adopt it.

Demos is a global system that resulted from a reflection on inclusive sports activities. Thibault identified two parallel phenomena: a demand for equal access to sports that were inexpensive and easy to set up; and a rise in the popularity of baseball and softball in France. This popularity should increase with the return of these sports to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. According to the experts consulted by Thibault, this event will increase the number of people playing these sports but also the risk of accidents if the players are not properly supervised. This system of objects and educational programs addresses two challenges: developing the inclusive aspect of these sports, making them accessible regardless of gender, age, physical or mental condition, and making the practice of these sports viable in clubs and schools. Demos reconsiders the technical and training resources necessary to host these future sportspeople. […] A comprehensive pedagogical program, co-created with and for sports education professionals, makes tailor-made training possible. Finally, Demos offers a support service intended for Trainers in their transition from the status of community volunteer to that of professional coach.
