43 new international students joined L’École de design Nantes Atlantique
On the 28th September and 5th October 2020, 43 new international students from 17 different nationalities, enrolled in the 3rd year International Class or the 1st year of postgraduate studies, joined L’École de design Nantes Atlantique.
For the first time this semester, we are proud to welcome 9 students from our partner school, the prestigious China Academy of Art (CAA) in Hangzhou, as part of a double degree track at postgraduate level. Successful students will obtain both the Chinese master’s degree and the French master’s level degree in design from both institutions.
“Bienvenue en France”: a full three-day welcome session
All our international students are welcomed through a three-day program:
After a presentation from both the international group of the Students Union (Bureau des Étudiants) introducing the activities organized during the semester and the Erasmus Students Network association introducing activities and services offered to international students across the city, we organize a "lunch with your buddy" to allow foreign students to get to know better their mentor. A real success, as all students joined in the terrace, even those not involved in the activities!
On the second day, we helped students with many administrative procedures required to set up their life in Nantes. For the first time in 2020, students have access to the platform Feel Français before their arrival which allowed them to be more autonomous in carrying out these procedures. Our international students enrolled in a MDes program also visited the Design Labs they will be studying in.
On Wednesday October 7th all the new international students got together for an Escape game around the city. Students worked together in mixed nationality groups to solve clues and get to know each other.
This welcome program is part of the international policy of L’École de design Nantes Atlantique, whom got recently rewarded by the "Bienvenue en France" label with the maximum score of three stars by Campus France, the official body for students’ mobility of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
International programs in English remains attractive despite the COVID-19 situation
Within our international programs, French and international students work together on group projects in a multicultural approach.
International and French students who join the DN MADE 3rd year International Class are organized into one of three programs depending on their previous studies: Industrial Product, for product and industrial design students, Digital Media Design, for Interaction Design, Ux/Ui Design or Multimedia Design students and Retail & Interior Design, for Interior and Space Design students.
With Le Studio France, the school is offering an authentic immersion in French context and the guarantee of a multicultural experience in optimal conditions. The first semester of this postgraduate studies program is dedicated to the acclimatization of students to their new environment, the acquisition of methodological tools to carry out design projects and the personal development of the student and his or her identity as a designer.
Despite the troubled global situation related to Covid-19, we are very happy to welcome a significant number of international students this fall. All students are very committed in learning and motivated to have the best experience!
