A new location in Quebec, dedicated to creativity and innovation
The purpose of this agreement between the two structures is to establish a second design studio in Montreal in the premises of the Zú incubator, one of the most important incubators in the creative and entertainment industries in North America. It will provide a creative environment that integrates design at the heart of the development process of new products and services for Zú’s companies and partners.
With this partnership, the Nantes-based school, which set up its fourth studio in Montreal in 2018, is strengthening its presence in the Quebec capital and pursuing its international development having already established itself in China, India, Brazil and Africa.
Studio Montreal, a professionalizing program focused on innovation and entrepreneurship.
The partnership with Zú will allow us to offer Master’s students a new opportunity for a long expatriation (18 months) within the network of startups of the incubator initiated by Guy Laliberté, founder of Cirque du Soleil. Immersed in an international working environment, they will develop innovative projects for an exciting and rapidly changing sector. This announcement also addresses the challenges faced by Quebec startups in terms of accessing a qualified workforce that will attract new potential collaborators for the entertainment and digital culture industry in Quebec.
"It’s a great opportunity for our school to collaborate with a partner like Zú, which is an international reference in its field. By alternating work in a company and classes, our students are in the best place to develop innovative projects, gain skills related to entrepreneurship and get involved in the future creation of a startup", explains Stéphane Gouret, deputy director of L’École de design Nantes Atlantique.
"The arrival of L’École de design Nantes Atlantique at the very heart of our incubator is excellent news for our creative and digital industries, as it will bring new, highly qualified talent to Quebec to collaborate with the startups and companies that are part of Zú’s vast ecosystem. This partnership is an important step in the close relationship we are currently developing with the techno-creative ecosystem of the city of Nantes and Nantes Métropole. I am personally very proud to see that Zú is also increasing its impact and reputation on an international level," said Dimitri Gourdin, Zú’s executive director.
About twenty places are available for design students of all profiles: digital design (UI/UX design & game experience design), graphic design (graphic & motion design), space design (interior architecture or scenography) or industrial design (product design or transport design).
The signing of this partnership marks a further step in the rapprochement between Nantes and Montreal, twin cities which have been working together for several years now in the fields of digital technology, culture and innovation.
An incubator launched by Guy Laliberté in 2018, Zú supports and propels creative entrepreneurs who use technology to develop products and content that revolutionize the cultural, creative, and entertainment industries by generating innovative projects and world-class intellectual property.
Zú offers coaching programs for startups, open innovation services for SMEs and large companies, financing expertise including privileged access to a venture capital fund, a local and international network of over a hundred renowned coaches, a unique creative hub in the heart of Montreal that brings together state-of-the-art tools and studios under one roof, hosting services for companies, and spaces for research and experimentation with the general public.
