Message from Christian Guellerin - Executive Director of L’École de design Nantes Atlantique

To our students, our alumni, our teaching teams, their familias, to our Chinese friends and partners and to all those who are affected by the epidemic of Coronavirus, that is to say all of us,

For the past few weeks, we have been witnessing the spread of an epidemic of international magnitude whose impact is still difficult to measure. L’École de design Nantes Atlantique is particularly concerned since we have been developing training and partnerships for almost 15 years with China.

I extend my support to all those who are directly affected by the virus and their familias. Today, to our knowledge, no student, alumni, professor or close partner has the disease.

I address it to all those who have to live in special conditions, confinement, quasiprohibition to leave their accommodation, to move... They are experiencing complicated times, undoubtedly stressful, which requires attention and prevention. Of course, I also address it to all our students, alumni, all partners of L’École de design, people, companies... with whom for more than 15 years we have been working, sharing, exchanging in astate of mind of cooperation and solidarity. We hope that very soon life will return to normal for all of you and that again, we will be able to circulate normally in China and elsewhere.

Since the start of the epidemic, we have established a direct link with all of our students, alumni and teachers to whom we have transmitted information received from the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Shanghai Consulate and the Chinese authorities that we thank. Sorne did not wish to join China for the start of the program. They will be hosted in France or abroad in one of our 3 other international programs. Others wanted to stay in China. We have postponed our term dates hoping that the epidemic will finally decline.

Our educational team stayed in Shanghai. They can be contacted at any time to testify to the development of the situation. The same is true for all the departments of the educational administration in France. Likewise, we have postponed all our collaborations with our Chinese university partners. Several teachers were to lead workshops in Shanghai and Hangzhu. These programs were postponed to May and June. We have a special thought for our Chinese students in France or elsewhere who are probably going through a difficult time, probably scary away from their family. The whole school community should give them our sincere and warmly support.

This is a particular time for L’École de design Nantes Atlantique, we need to manage in the best of everyone’s health and persona! and professional interests. The link should be kept in this confused period.

Take care of yourself.
