L’École de design Nantes Atlantique – an international school of design
L’École de design Nantes Atlantique now has important international status built on a network of 120 international partners and 5 sites, in Nantes (France), Shanghai (China), Sao Paulo (Brazil), Pune (India) and Montreal (Canada).
Back in 2001, L’Ecole de design Nantes Atlantique set up a design course taught entirely in English, open to international students. Today the school is home to around 150 students of 40 different nationalities, with Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs offered in English.
Studying in this multicultural environment is a real opportunity to combine openness to others, curiosity, pragmatism and cultural references – all essential qualities in a designer.

Just like the experience offered to French and foreign students in our international studios, with Le Studio France we are offering an authentic immersion in French society and the guarantee of a multicultural experience in optimum conditions.

The International Relations team makes life easier for international students from the day they arrive until the day they graduate.

The “Bienvenue en France” Label
L’École de design Nantes Atlantique is the only design school to have been awarded the “Bienvenue en France” label by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The school is particularly renowned for the quality and accessibility of information for international students, its welcome procedures, its choice of training programs, pedagogical support, accommodation, quality of life on campus and post-graduate follow-up.
Transcultural Design MDes/Le Studio France: a Master’s degree course with an international scope
The Transcultural Design MDes is a two-year international master’s program based in France and taught entirely in English.
It focuses on acquiring methodological tools in a process of Research, Education and Innovation, promoting a user-centered approach. The emphasis is on working in multicultural groups, based on exchanging different points of view and world visions.
The program also includes a component that seeks to integrate students into French design culture and provides opportunities to work closely with companies and institutions who challenge the students’ work.
Students must sign up for one of the five specialized socio-economic topics attached to our Design Labs to give a clear direction to their projects:
Care Design, with expertise from Care Design Lab
City Design, with expertise from City Design Lab
Food Design, with expertise from Food Design Lab
Human Machine Design, with expertise from Human Machine Design Lab
A team of dedicated teachers, teaching programs in English
All the courses in these training programs are delivered by an international team in English. A wide range of diverse experiences and design visions.
