CREDO2009 : "The Herb Garden of the Ideal City" international design workshop in Fontevraud

CREDO2009 : "The Herb Garden of the Ideal City" international design workshop in Fontevraud

The international design workshop CREDO 2009 (Cooperation in Research and Education for Design Options) is taking place from April 17 to 24, 2009 at the Abbey of Fontevraud (Loire Region).

The theme chosen for the CREDO 2009 session is : “ The Herb Garden of the Ideal City.”

The garden is a keystone in the organization of an abbey, be it seen as an Ideal City or a just as a place to live. In a monastery the garden acts as a self-sufficient space dedicated to experimentation and preservation, a place where vegetal species with healing and soothing properties are kept. Its mention echoes several modern-day issues at the crossroads between eating habits, health/well-being and vegetal life. During this year’s session we will strive to think up new prospective scenarios to answer a number of related questions.

35 participants from 9 prestigious European education institutions are taking part in this one-week event.

The outcomes of the workshop will be exhibited in fall 2009. The organizing team also plans to publish a whole collection of bilingual (French/English) “CREDO” brochures documenting the event.

CREDO is organized by L’École de design Nantes Atlantique in collaboration with the Pays de la Loire Region, the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud, and the Cumulus association.
