L’École de design Nantes Atlantique is offering a preparatory class in Arts, Design and Media that will begin in September 2020. The purpose of this program is to train applicants for higher education in art and design in France, through an approach to French culture, openness to the different forms of design as practiced in France, and preparation for entrance exams to the most prestigious French-speaking schools.
Who is the Arts, Design & Media: preparatory program for?
The “Classe préparatoire - Arts, Design and Media”, is specifically tailored for French and international high school students who have a high school diploma and who have a minimum level of B1 in French.
For international students in the process of acquiring the French language, a first semester of intensive teaching of French as a foreign language is offered to consolidate communication skills.
French and French-speaking international students (level B2) will join the school in January 2021 for a semester of discovery of the design field. Selection is based on academic record and level of French.
How is this program organized?
International students with a B1 level in French follow a first semester of training in French as a foreign language at the University of Nantes (I-FFLE) before joining L’École de design Nantes Atlantique.
From January 2021, all students are then integrated into a semester of general courses (modes of expression, general culture, technical culture and interculturality) and discover the different design professions: space design, graphic design, Interaction Design and industrial design.
What is the objective of this Preparatory Class?
This program allows students to discover the different fields of design, and to prepare their application for higher education in France (portfolio, interviews, practical tests).
This preparatory class also allows international students to improve their French, an essential skill for considering design studies in France.
What kind of further studies can be undertaken at the end of this program?
At the end of the preparatory class, students will have the opportunity to apply for any post-baccalaureate programme in art and design, via the national Parcoursup procedure or directly with the schools concerned.
They will thus be able to apply to L’École de design Nantes Atlantique in BDes year 1, 1st year of the 5-year course leading to the Bac+5 Design Diploma, or in the 1st year of the National Diploma of Arts and Design Professions (DN MADE) via the Parcoursup procedure.
