The housing insurance is a mandatory document in France to get the key of your accommodation. It covers you and your accommodation in case of fire, flood damage, theft etc The school will recommend French insurance companies to you to obtain this insurance before entering your accommodation. For students staying in Crous accommodation booked via the school, your housing insurance will be pre-paid and sent directly to the residence, students reimburse this cost to the school upon arrival.
In France, enrolment in higher education leads to membership in students social security scheme. The French social security is now free for all international students. The administrative procedure may differ depending on your situation:
International students from the European Union, European Economic Area and Switzerland
• If you already have health insurance coverage in your country, you do not need to sign up for the French State health insurance. In this case, you must bring your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC).
• You must get registered online at the French social security (CPAM). It must be carried out on your first day of arrival in France.
• You will benefit from the same level of coverage as other students and benefit from a free healthcare
• The health insurance registration is mandatory. We will be able to guide you step by step on your first day at school in case your registration is not done on your arrival.
It is however strongly recommended that you sign up for a top-up health insurance policy after your arrival in France

Whether you are a student or an employee, civil liability insurance is mandatory in France and covers you for any damage you may cause to a third party or property. The school will ask you for this in your first week. On your first day you will be given addresses of insurance companies who can sell you this insurance.
