When you arrive in Nantes, you have to think about a number of things: finding accommodation, insurance, paying the CVEC. L’École de design helps you!
In France, several insurances are mandatory:
- Enrollement in higher education leads to membership in students social security scheme.
- Housing insurance for all tenants, may they be students or not.
- Civil liability insurance that covers you for any damage you may cause to a third party or property.
The school helps you to see more clearly
The CVEC (Student and campus life contribution) is a tax that validates your registration in a higher education institution. This contribution, collected by the CROUS (Regional Centers of University and Schools) is intended to promote the reception and social support, health, culture and sports of students.
The CVEC for the academic year 2021/2022 is 92€.
For more information you can consult this short Campus France video.
Exchange students are not subject to the CVEC. Students with CROUS scholarship or with a Campus France scholarship are exempted from paying the CVEC but must go on line anyway and download their certificate.
International students arriving at school are all allocated a mentor/buddy to help them settle into and adapt to their life in France.
Mentors are a point of contact before the arrival of the student and can, depending on their availability, meet students when they arrive in Nantes. They continue to be a helping hand to international students throughout the semester. Mentors are all volunteer students (French and international) who have already spent at least, one year at school and in Nantes. They are the best guides and are very enthusiastic to welcome new international students to Nantes.
