How to apply as an Exchange student
Only students from our partner schools are allowed to apply for an exchange program.
The duration of the exchange program is one semester, either in Autumn (October to January) or in Spring (Feburary to June)
International Class (undergraduate studies)
Exchange students can enroll in the International Class and choose one of the following programs, depending on their profile :
for students with a background in graphic design, visual communication or scenography
Digital Media Design
for students with a background in graphic design, interaction design or multimedia design.
for students with a background in industrial or product design
Retail & lnterior Design
for students with a background in spatial design, interior design or scenography
Exchange students enrolled in one of the three programs follow compulsory courses and have to choose elective courses to obtain 30 ECTS
For optional classes, we cannot guarantee a place for each student before the start of the semester.
MDes programs (postgraduate studies)
Exchange students may enroll in one of our Master in Design (MDes) programs and join the second semester (February to June) of the 1st year of postgraduate studies.
To join our MDes programs as an exchange student, candidates must have completed a bachelor (three or four years) in either product design, space design, graphic design or interaction design. Only students from our partner schools are allowed to apply for an exchange program.

Applicants for the exchange program are required to send us the following:
- A CV
- A cover letter
- A copy of their passport
- A portfolio
- An Exchange student application form 2017-2018 (please download)
- A provisional learning agreement (for students from outside of Europe - please download)
- Erasmus + learning agreement (please download) please use this version only

It is not always possible to accept all students applying for an exchange semester. If the number of applications exceeds the number of places, a selection will take place by the course leader based on the quality of the student’s portfolio and application documents. Students will be notified of the result of the selection procedure within 3 weeks after the end of the application period.
L’Ecole de design welcomes applications from students with disabilities or chronic illness and treats them on the same academic grounds as those from other candidates. Please specify any specific requirements when sending your application.

Students wishing to apply for programs other than exchanges
If you have at least 2 years of undergraduate studies in graphic, product, or spatial design and are interested in following an undergraduate program in English over a full year as a student of L’École de design, please consult the International Class.
If you have a Bachelor’s Degree in Design and are interested in applying for one of our 11 MDes programs, please consult the Postgraduate Studies.
